Simmons brace helps Crawley Wasps knock five past Hassocks
A strong first half performance from the Wasps put the game out of reach for local rivals Hassocks.
The hosts started brightly enough in the opening minutes earning two corners, but once settled the Wasps started to take the initiative and put the hosts on the back-foot.

Just four minutes later a breakthrough for Faye Rabson and an unselfish cut back allowed Cassie Barry to meet with a perfect volley and 2-0.
The Reds were trying hard to stay in the game and were struggling to deal with the pace of Rabson and on 28 minutes a desperate challenge in the box led way to a penalty and for the second week running stand-in keeper and captain Natalie Stephenson confidently stepped up and put away for 3-0.
Keeping the tempo up, a midfield move involving the hard working pair of Suzy Davis and Toni Smith saw a neat through ball from Smith for Simmons to cleanly strike and finish the half 4-0.

Just ten minutes into the second half Rabson deservedly got on the scoresheet for 5-0 with a cheeky shot through the keeper’s legs, then allowing Wasps to take advantage of a full squad, with the introduction of Sarah Payne and Kerry Donaghey.
As the Wasps tried to slow the game Hassocks still looked for that consolation goal but the visitors dealt with the threats and only picking up one injury completed a pleasing afternoon’s work.
