West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service was called to Littlehampton Road in Worthing at 9.31am by the South East Coast Ambulance Service ‘to assist in the rescue of a patient’ from their sheltered housing accomodation. The road was closed while the woman was removed from the building through the window. A fire service spokesman said: “Working closely with paramedics, firefighters successfully rescued a female casualty from the first floor of the property using the aerial ladder platform, before leaving her in the care of ambulance staff. The last crew left the scene at 11.07am.”
