A woman was ‘squashed’ between a shop and a car after a crash in Horsham town centre this afternoon (July 29), an eyewitness has said.

No one is believed to be seriously injured after the Jaguar went into the window of Cook in the Carfax at about 2.30pm.

The witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “A woman got hit. I thought she got squashed between the (shop) window and the car.

“It hit these two women and one of the women was squashed over the bonnet. It was quite shaky.”

Val Turley was having coffee with a friend outside in the Carfax, near the incident.

She said: “It happened very quickly. I thought ‘he is going the wrong way’ and that he would stop but he didn’t.

“It made a big noise.”

Simon Phillips, from Horsham, also witnessed the accident. He added: “I heard a woman say ‘stop’ and I looked around. There was a loud bang and I saw he had gone into the shop.”
