Storrington Royal Airforce veteran and advocate turns 95
James Robinson joined the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) in 1946 having served his time in the RAF during the Second World War, stationed in Burma.
A Resident at RAFA Housing Ltd in Washington Road, Storrington, James attended Buckingham Palace’s garden party on Friday (June 12) as part of the Burma Star Association.

Hide AdHe was also fortunate enough to meet Princess Anne and described her as ‘a delightful lady with a lovely sense of humour’.
An author, James has written a book of his life story, which he has sold to raise funds for RAFA.
A great long-time advocate for the charity, James has paid his membership and donations for almost 70 years.
After reading a story in RAF News about unusual medical conditions, A sufferer of solar keratosis, James decided to go public with his condition and managed to raise £31,300 via Gift Aid to go towards the charity.

Hide AdJennie Morrison-Cowan who works at RAFA Housing Ltd said: “He supports the new South Downs Retired Royal Air Force Social Club that has recently been set up by some of the tenants.
“Everyone also enjoys listening to his afternoon of music when he shares his collection of over 200 vinyl records.”
James celebrated his 95th birthday on June 7 surrounded by friends and neighbours at the village’s sheltered housing complex.
Recently, James attended his first RAFA conference in Eastbourne, just before his birthday, and was the eldest member present.
