Football star helps send soccer tops to children in Africa
Ex-Southampton goalkeeper Jones was on hand to get Soccerstops4Smiles started. The initiative aims to collect used football shirts to send to the needy in Africa.
He said: “People just have to scout around wardrobes and drawers and fish out any old football tops they don’t use. We’ll make sure they get a new lease of life in Africa and bring a smile to those who aren’t as privileged as we are.”

Hide AdBognor mum Jayne Williamson came up with the idea and has made contact with an African charity which has agreed to distribute the tops. “The football season is all but over and the new kits will be coming out soon,” she said. “How about donating your old one to make someone happy?”
Jayne is being supported in the campaign by hairdresser Daren Terry whose salon, Lotus Styling, in Aldwick Road, is being used as a drop-off point.
