Bin collections disrupted after St Leonards chemical incident
The tip has been evacuated following reports of a strong smell of ammonia and six people have been taken ill.
Residents are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution.

Hide AdA statement from Hastings Borough Council said: “It has been reported that there has been a problem at the waste transfer station, at Pebsham, which has led to its temporary closure. The public are not at risk.
“As a result waste and recycling collections in Hastings will be affected today.
“Residents are asked to leave their bins at the collection point to allow collection at the earliest possible opportunity.
“It is hard to predict when this will be, but all collections should be caught up by Saturday lunchtime.

“We will provide an update later today once we have a clearer picture of the incident and its impact on services.”
