After seam bowler Andy Isaacs had restricted the so far winless hosts to 134 all out, the ever dependable Gary Hunt hit 40 after an initial wobble, before skipper Dave Kennett saw them home with an unbeaten 49 in tandem with Ed Lamb.Kennett said: “We had a bit of a blip last week in losing to Pagham so it was important to get a maximum points win.“Gary came in and batted brilliantly. He’s been at the club well over the ten years I’ve been here and in all that time he’s been the most consistent go to player, we always look to him to score runs for us and fortunately myself and Ed saw us home after.”Kennett stuck an inexperienced Arundel batting line up in first and at 57-4 they seemed content just to hang on.When they did go for their shots it played into Steyning’s hands, in particular Isaacs who claimed 5-29 from his 18.4 overs, with all the bowlers keeping things tight. The ‘wobble’ saw Dave Curtis-Botting fall along with Matt Sewell (18) and Hywel Jones (16) after starts. But Hunt as ever steadied the ship before Kennett and Lamb took Steyning to their second win of the season as they keep tabs with the leaders.12:04
